Dr. Kevin Meadows, Senior Pastor, has served as pastor of Grandin Court Baptist Church since February 2001. A native of eastern North Carolina, Kevin holds degrees from North Carolina State University, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and The Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond. Kevin’s wife, Cindy, is an ordained minister and currently serves as a hospital chaplain with Carilion Health System of Roanoke. They have two adult children, Blake and Lottie. He has a deep passion for being missional and has served in such diverse locations as Prague, Czech Republic, Managua, Nicaragua, Nairobi, Kenya, Yendi, Ghana, Puerto Rico, and numerous points throughout the country of India. In his spare time, he enjoys running, playing golf, painting, and cooking.

Rev. Melissa A Fox, Associate Pastor for Worship and Spirituality, is a native of Arkansas, graduating from the University of Arkansas in 1984 with a Bachelors Degree in Journalism/Magazine Photography. She attended Midwestern Baptist Seminary in Kansas City and graduated with a Masters degree in Church Music with a minor in Vocal Performance. Her life has always been filled with music whether private lessons on flute and piano, or trying her skills at the saxophone, handbells, timpani and organ. Her first love is singing. She is married to David, having just celebrated their 35th Wedding Anniversary. She has served churches in Arkansas, Missouri and Virginia since 1982. Her calling and passion is to help God’s people find their voice or talent and offer it to God in worship as a way of life. In June 2020, Melissa completed her certification as a Spiritual Director. Along with empowering others in a life of worship, Melissa offers individual and group spiritual direction, a listening ministry that helps recognize the work of God in our lives and go deeper into our prayer life.
Rev. Melissa Kessler, Associate Pastor for Congregational Care, joined Grandin Court in 2014 after earning her Master of Divinity from Wake Forest University School of Divinity and being ordained by First Baptist Church of Kernersville, North Carolina. Born in central New York and raised in North Carolina, Pastor Melissa has always loved people and exploring new places. During her undergraduate career at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro she studied Maori music at the New Zealand School of Music before obtaining her Bachelor of Music in Music Education. She then moved to Southern India to work at an international Christian school and partnered with organizations throughout the country during her tenure. She strives to help the church engage their immediate and distant communities through conversation, learning, and action, bridging differences and finding common ground. Email Pastor Melissa K
Rev. Charles A. Krause, Pastor Emeritus, has been at Grandin Court Baptist Church for over 10 years. He was born in Lexington, Virginia and raised in Richmond, Virginia. Charlie graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. He received his calling to the gospel ministry at Ridgecrest, NC and was ordained April 4, 1993. He has served churches in Jeffersonville, Indiana and in Roanoke, VA. Charlie played the tuba in the Roanoke Symphony for 37 years and currently plays with the Roanoke Chamber Brass. He is married to his wife Fran and they have 3 grown children and 8 grandchildren. He loves music (playing and listening), reading, playing with his Lionel trains and especially playing with his grandchildren.

Robin Rowe, Financial Secretary
Judy Granger, Administrative Assistant, joined GCBC in March 2022. Judy is originally from Columbus, Ohio. She attended “The” Ohio State University, majoring in Education. Judy earned her Associate degree from the University of Phoenix , majoring in Business Management. Judy moved to Roanoke over 20 years ago, where she served as a District Manager with CVS/pharmacy and Medicine Shoppe Franchise Pharmacies. Judy started working part-time in a neighborhood pharmacy at age 16. She left her career in Pharmacy in 2019 after going through 3 different corporate downsizing events. She joined the Unitarian Universalist Church of Roanoke in 2019 as the part-time Administrative Assistant/Facility Coordinator. Judy and her partner, John Harrison, live in North Roanoke with their 2 dogs, Willow and Harper. John and Judy love to do anything in the outdoors. You can find them walking the trails around the Roanoke Valley Preserve conveniently locate just 2 blocks from their home. Judy is a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Becky Owen, Children’s Activities Coordinator, along with her husband Josh, have been a members of Grandin Court since 2011. Becky graduated from the University of Lynchburg with a BS in Psychology with an emphasis in Childhood Behavior in 2007 and is currently completing her online Ministry Certification at Baylor University Truett Divinity School. Born and raised in Halifax, Virginia, Becky moved to Roanoke after graduating with a position as a Qualified Mental Health Professional working in the county and city schools aiding children with mental and behavioral disabilities. She held this position until making the change to stay at home after the birth of her first child. Becky became the Childcare Coordinator at Grandin Court for the nursery in 2017 before becoming the Children’s Activities Coordinator in 2019. Becky and Josh have 3 young children, Maggie, Ruth and Graham. There is a true passion for Becky to work with children in helping them to learn and grow in their faith by teaching and encouraging them that even though they are young and small they can still achieve great things in their daily lives as well as through various mission projects.
Sherrie Oliver, Senior Adult Coordinator, is from a military family and has lived around the United States, but has lived all of her adult life in Roanoke, the birthplace of both parents. Sherrie graduated from James Madison University with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and was married to John “Skip” Oliver for 18 years until his passing in 2005. Her work life over 35 years has been administrative; Executive Secretarial, Human Resources Manager, Coordinator of Volunteers for a nonprofit for people with vision impairments. Sherrie has a great love for music and people, her two Shih Tzus, and tap dancing! Her goal is to encourage laughter and happiness!!
Mac Obenshain, Youth Activities Coordinator, has been a member of Grandin Court since his childhood when his parents moved to Roanoke from Richmond. Mac started working in high school and has worked in both the public and private sector. He grew up in the Grandin Court Youth Group and has many great memories of involvement in church events and experiences on mission trips. Like many young people Mac stopped attending church during his 20’s, but he found that something was missing from his life, so he returned to the place that had meant so much to him as a teen. He started teaching Senior High Sunday School in 2009 and chaperoned his first international youth mission trip to Guatemala in 2010. Since then Mac has been involved with the Youth teaching Sunday School, spending time in fellowship on Sunday nights, helping with bible study on Wednesday nights and chaperoning many mission trips locally, nationally, and internationally. Mac enjoys movies, books, music, and games of various styles.
Laura Brewer, Weekday Preschool Director, has been a member of Grandin Court Baptist since relocating to the Roanoke Valley in 1997. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the College of William and Mary and many training hours in Early Childhood Education best practices. She first became involved with the preschool as a parent, then teacher, and has served as Director since 2014. She is passionate about developing relationships with students and their families and loves watching each individual child grow and discover their talents and abilities in a high-quality learning environment.
