Sanctuary Choir is comprised of youth and adults who love to sing on a weekly basis for our 10:00 am combined worship services. Rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings at 7:00, late August through June. We begin working on music for the Holiday Season in September. Youth and Adults of all ages are welcome to join us! A Christmas instrumental ensemble is currently being formed. If you play an instrument and would like to participate, please see Melissa Fox asap!
Our Praise Team leads worship as well as seasonal services each year and rotation in prelude musicians. Participation is based on each individual’s musical ability. If you play an instrument or sing, you are encouraged to contact Pastor Melissa Fox about joining the team. Rehearsals are held on Sunday evenings. Some of our favorite artists are Chris Tomlin, Lincoln Brewster, and Matt Maher. We encourage folks to bring songs to our attention as we are always expanding our repertoire!
Our GCBC Ringers Handbell Choir rings a 5-Octave set of bells and a 3-Octave set of hand chimes. Rehearsals are held Sunday evenings, September through April. Ensembles ring during the summer months. Directed by Rev. Melissa Fox, Associate Pastor of Worship and Spirituality. Private lessons are available to anyone who would like to learn and/or eventually join the larger group. Ringers attend local and state Baptist workshops each year. Substitute ringers are always welcome!
We are excited to be invited to participate in the Baptist General Associations 200th Anniversary in November as one of three Virginia handbell choirs. Plus we will be working toward our Epiphany Concert to be held on January 7, 2024 at 6:30 pm. This event is free and open to the public.
Our Children’s Music Ministry currently meets on Sunday afternoons at 4:00 pm. Activities include learning the basics of singing, playing bells, drums, handchimes and orff instruments. In September, the kids will begin preparation to participate in worship and holiday events.
