Our fall retreat was held in Wintergreen Resort. The trees were in full fall glory, the sun was bright and the air was crisp. Some ladies went up a day early to enjoy some down time to reflect and rest. We took advantage of our surroundings to be creative; each person gathering items of beauty and texture to create a work of art, celebrating the extraordinary gift of God's creation.
The next day, others joined us and we began our study of John chapter 4, specifically the story of the Samaritan woman at the well. Lively conversation regarding assumptions and digging deeper into the mission of Jesus the Christ had us all pondering new levels of understanding. As women, we talked about our common experiences with the women of scripture and with our meeting Jesus in our daily regular lives. As a spiritual practice, we wrote colloquy's - a practice that challenges us all to put ourselves in the biblical story.
We cooked togetherand enjoyed great food and fellowship around the table, plus had a side trip to a local venue to further enjoy the beautiful fall season before heading back home. Our retreats are always full of laughter and tears, contemplation and reflection. Takeaways were painted on rocks to remind ourselves of all we experienced over a fantastic weekend. Friendships were deepened, renewed and enjoyed. We hope more ladies will join us for a spring getaway in late April to Charleston, SC!
